The Wedding Day Timeline - something that no one sees but is definitely felt by everyone.

A well-planned wedding day timeline is the difference between a day that feels calm and meaningful, and one that feels rushed, confusing, and possibly overwhelming. After coordinating many weddings in Israel, I can tell you this: when the schedule is built well you and your guests will enjoy the day much more!

Here are a few pointers for creating your wedding day timeline for a typical wedding in Israel– if you want help managing this and the rest of the day feel free to be in touch!

Start With the Fixed Points

Start with the most important elements - these are non-negotiable, so they come first.

  • Wedding start time (Kabbalat Panim)

  • Chuppah (check Sunset)

  • Ending time

Everything else should be planned around these points.

Build the Schedule Backwards

You know what time the wedding starts, now speak to the photographer to figure out what time to start photos.

Working backwards you schedule:

·        Extended family photos

·        Immediate Family photos

·        First look / couple’s photos

·        Bride/Groom photos separately and with the bridesmaids & groomsmen

Once the photos are scheduled, you check with the hair and make-up artists about how much time they need to get you (and your group) ready.

Make sure to add time to get dressed & travel time.

Flipping back around! Scheduling the event itself!

For this part you consult with the venue, the band / DJ and the Rabbi (or other Officiant) to schedule the actual event making sure to include the following:

·        Ketubah signing (Tisch)

·        Kisseh Kallah (if relevant)

·        Length of the Chuppah

·        Additional photo sessions

·        First course

·        Entrance & First Dance

·        Main Course

Speeches

·        Dance sets

·        Dessert

Add buffers!

Add 10-15 minute buffers throughout the day since unexpected delays happen and it’s always best to have some wiggle room.

Be realistic about travel times and don’t try to pack too much into an already busy and emotional day.

Coordination

Make sure that all the vendors have the most updated schedule as there are often changes through the planning process!

The Best Wedding Schedules Are Flexible, Not Rigid

Even with the best planning, something will shift. That’s normal. It’s not about looking at the exact time throughout the day, but about creating a wedding that flows nicely.

This way the family stays relaxed, everyone knows what to expect and the guests enjoy!
